OneSignal has launched a service called OneSignal Email Messaging that it says allows users to synchronize their email messaging from websites or apps.
It also facilitates the delivery of
email messages from the dashboard, API or SDK that clients use for notifications, the firm claims.
OneSignal adds that its SDK helps firms synchronize emails, see analytics on campaign
effectiveness and store users' preferences, including time zone and language.
The messaging platform does not require users to manually import email addresses or integrate APIs to track
preferences, it says.
The firm offers support for such services as Gmail AMP and supports HTML5 video and encryption.
While push notifications are widely used for short messages, email
remains the platform of choice for long-form messages and announcements, the company states. OneSignal seeks to help publishers use both channels, it adds.
The company has its origins in
personal challenges with email.
"We started OneSignal after previously working as a mobile game studio where we experienced firsthand the absence of technology to send effective notifications
that didn't annoy our users,” states CEO George Deglin.
He adds: “Publishers experience the same struggles with email. Many of them send impersonal and poorly targeted
emails or don't send them at all."
