Mcgarrybowen Taps Julie Scelzo To Head Up AmEx Creative Duties

Pandora's Julie Scelzo is departing the client side to join Dentsu Aegis Network’s mcgarrybowen in the newly created role of global executive creative director for client American Express.

Scelzo will relocate from the West Coast to New York, reporting to U.S. CCO Ned Crowley.

Scelzo has experience on both the agency and client sides. As Pandora's first executive creative director, she built a 100-person in-house creative advertising and content and helped launch a full re-branding of the music platform.

Earlier, she was a creative strategist for Facebook and Instagram. Previously, she worked at Leo Burnett, Element 79, oversaw the Dockers account at FCB West and led the team to win back Levi’s after a long hiatus.

After winning the American Express business last year, mcgarrybowen recently launched a global platform around "Don't Live Life Without It" and "Don't Do Business Without It" to suggest how American Express helps people manage work-life balance.

"Julie’s mastery of the digital and social landscape has further refined her storytelling ability to integrate across screens," says Crowley. "These are among the many reasons why she is the perfect choice to be the creative lead for Amex Worldwide as it reaches out to new customers in the modern media world.”
