A committee of MEPs have voted through a controversial EU copyright law that requires platforms to pay fees to copyright holders if their content is used in a meme, the
BBC says. The same law
also requires a platform to pay a fee to a news organisation for linking to its content. The proposed law will now be voted on by the European Parliament next month.
