McKinney Helps Client Corian Collaborate With New App

McKinney has created a new app for materials and design company DuPont Corian Design that’s intended to help the firm’s designers and customers collaborate at the speed of digital.

It’s called the Moodboard Maker and essentially digitizes in app form what is often an exercise in assembling images clipped from magazines, fabric swatches, drawings and other media.

Once the app is initialized, users choose a style that suits the mood they’re looking for — from organic to refined or from modern to bohemian.

Then, they fill a distinctive mosaic shape with swatches of Corian Solid Surface or Corian Quartz. They can use images, patterns and textures they choose using preloaded options, or upload images of their own.

Once completed, users can save their “Moodboard,” share it socially, or print it.

“We built the Corian Moodboard Maker to help inspire the creative process, and to bring Corian Design in at the beginning of the design phase — when people are searching for inspiration and ideas,” said McKinney group creative director Will Dean. He added that the app will “help people pull together their visual influences in a new, artistic way. When you finish creating your moodboard, it becomes easier to imagine what a room featuring all of those individual elements will look like. It changes your perspective.”
