Netflix has named Rachel Whetstone Chief Communications Officer. She will lead the streaming giant’s global communications strategy.

Whetstone joins Netflix from Facebook, where she led communications for Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. Previously, she held top communications and public policy roles at Google and Uber.

Whetstone succeeds Jonathan Friedland, who was fired as Netflix’s top communications executive in June, after twice using the N-word in corporate meetings.
