In a testament to the growing power of Amazon, Dentsu Aegis Network has launched Sellwin Consulting, a strategic consultancy designed to help clients grow their brands through the ecommerce giant.
Based in New York City the new firm is being led by Travis Johnson, a 20-year industry veteran who joined DAN about a year ago as president, commerce. Earlier he was Global CEO at Interpublic mobile specialist Ansible.
Also on the Sellwin team are e-commerce and marketing experts plucked from an array of DAN agencies along with recent external hires from Amazon, eBay and R/GA.
Commenting on the new entity Johnson said: “As Amazon continues to expand at a rapid pace, so do the opportunities for brands. By harnessing the individual agency skills across Dentsu Aegis Network - and adding new retail-focused skillsets - we offer clients something they haven’t had before: robust and comprehensive strategies that consider the full breadth of opportunities with Amazon, seamlessly plugging into overarching marketing plans, and meeting their business goals.”
Well yes and no. I mean Johnson has to say that, right? It’s his baby after all. But there’s a whole cottage industry of agencies and advisors making a livelihood as Amazon experts for their clients. Not to mention all the ecommerce specialists that offer expertise on Amazon and a lot more. Google agencies specializing in Amazon and you’ll come up with a pretty comprehensive list.
That said sounds like DAN has gathered a very talented to bunch of specialists to help a heck of a lot of brands grow their businesses utilizing Amazon. And that’s pretty much a must these days.
