Salesforce Restores Service After Outage

Salesforce has restored service to all clients cut off on Friday as the firm sought to cope with a database script error.

The episode began shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday when the “deployment of a database script resulted in granting users broader data access than intended,“ the company states.

The issue affected only Pardot accounts.

"To protect our customers, we have blocked access to all instances that contain affected customers until we can complete the removal of the inadvertent permissions in the affected customer orgs,” Salesforce continues.

The firm reports that “customers who were not impacted may experience service disruption. In parallel, we are working to restore the original permissions as quickly as possible.”

The company claims the disruption ended around 4 a.m. on Saturday. However, some problems apparently continued into Sunday morning.

“Our org has been restored, but some permissions for some profiles are off,” one user writes on downdetector. "Very strange. Most permissions seem okay, but minor inconsistencies may indicate a larger problem with the script?”

"Any updates?" another user writes, adding: "Still no permissions restored.”

Pardot is a marketing automation platform that Salesforce claims can increase email subscribers, reduce sales cycles, increase website leads and increase marketing productivity.
