Is HBO's Throne Half Empty?

The series finale of HBO blockbuster "Game of Thrones" churned a lot of characters, and it appears it may do the same for subscribers. Forty-four percent of the pay TV service's subscribers say they aren't sure they will continue to subscribe following the series' end, according to a Morning Consult poll conducted May 20-22.

Eight percent of the "GoT" fans say they have already canceled their HBO subscriptions, while another 19% say they have plans to cancel.

"Subscribers who stay with the service will have plenty of post-'Game of Thrones' content to choose from," Morning Consult notes, citing a Bloomberg report that HBO is increasing original programming by 50%, including “His Dark Materials” and “Watchmen,” alongside returning shows “Big Little Lies,” Westworld” and “Silicon Valley” over the next two years.
