IPG's Reprise Elevates Dimitri Maex To Global CEO

IPG is promoting Dimitri Maex from Global Chief Operating Officer to Global CEO to assume full responsibility for the company’s financial performance, as well as improving its capabilities inclusive of digital, search, social, mobile and ecommerce solutions to support IPG Mediabrands agencies UM and Initiative.

The agency works closely with UM and Initiative to integrate digital marketing services into specific solutions designed for each client’s needs.

Maex replaces Tim Ringel who is now Global CEO of Spring Studios.

Before joining the IPG family, Maex served as Global President and Chief Revenue Officer of mobile data start-up Sentiance, as well as President of OgilvyOne. There, he oversaw both the consulting and analytics divisions during his tenure with Ogilvy Worldwide, working with clients such as IBM, American Express and Unilever.

Daryl Lee, CEO, IPG Mediabrands, said Maex's experience makes him uniquely able to understand the "future evolution of performance marketing as it powers an increasing share of client spend." He added Maex will be "a strong collaborator with UM and Initiative to the ultimate benefit of our clients."

This role marks the latest executive announcement since Lee was appointed to his CEO position in September. Since then, Lee has named Eileen Kiernan as his successor at UM, Guy Beach to the post of Global Chief Financial Officer and Chris Jones as IPG Mediabrands Chief Communications Officer.

The agency has not yet named Maex's replacement as Global COO.
