Porsche, Boeing Partner To Develop Flying Car

Porsche and Boeing have agreed to work together on future “premium personal urban air mobility vehicles.”

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the air mobility market and the extension of urban traffic into airspace.

The companies, along with Boeing subsidiary Aurora Flight Sciences, are developing a concept for a fully electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles, basically a flying car.

"Porsche is looking to enhance its scope as a sports car manufacturer by becoming a leading brand for premium mobility,” stated Detlev von Platen, member of the executive board for sales and marketing at Porsche AG. “In the longer term, this could mean moving into the third dimension of travel.”

Boeing and Porsche plan to create an international team to address various aspects of urban air mobility, included an analysis of the market potential for premium vehicles that can fly.
