Newspapers' Billion-Pound Mistake To Sell Advertising Rather Than Journalism

Newspapers have lost a billion pounds by selling advertising rather than journalism. That was the start conclusion of Newsworks executive chairman Tracy De Groose, speaking to the Society of Editors annual conference yesterday, Press Gazette reports. Selling advertising on open platforms dominated by tech giants has seen content sold as an "amorphous mass," she concluded.
