'Dodo' Runs 'Odd Couples' Series On Disney

The Dodo, an online video site, just added 46 shorts of its “Odd Couples” series to Disney, enlarging its media reach.

The animal brand is running the offbeat program on DisneyNOW, which includes Disney Junior, Disney Channel and Disney XD.

The wacky elements of the show make it endearing to viewers. “Odd Couples” documents the unusual bonding of species that don’t usually align, such as a turkey and a dog, a donkey and a dog or a cat-rat duo.

The first 10 shows came available Monday and more are expected in future.

Izzie Lerer, Dodo’s founder-Chief Creative Officer, said the site’s “uplifting, family-friendly stories” were an “intuitive fit” for DisneyNOW.

In October, Dodo announced it will provide a Monday-Friday series as part of Quibi’s Daily Essentials lineup, once the mobile-video streamer launches this coming April. The twist: The show determines content based on people’s emotions each day of the week.

The Dodo is part of Group Nine Media.
