NBCU Mulling $10 Fee For Peacock SVOD Version: Report

NBCUniversal is considering a $10-per-month fee for an ad-free version of its upcoming Peacock streaming service, and $4.99 for a version with limited advertising, sources tell The Information.

Comcast CFO Michael Cavanagh, in a presentation last week, already poured water on recent rumors that Peacock will be free to all consumers. While he confirmed that its core business model will be ad-supported, he said it will be free “in certain circumstances.”

NBCU had previously indicated that it was considering making Peacock free to Comcast broadband and pay-TV customers.

A $10 monthly fee would be more expensive than SVODs including Apple TV+ ($4.99) and Disney+ ($6.99), but cheaper than HBO Max ($15).

Pricing and other questions about Peacock, set to launch in April 2020, will presumably be answered during the Jan. 16 investor meeting that’s been announced by Comcast.
