Volkswagen Adds Voice-Activated Air Conditioning

Volkswagen is adding a connected car feature that allows a driver or passenger to adjust the temperature in the car by using voice control.

The Smart Climate system in the new Golf vehicle allows a driver to say “I am cold” or “I am warm” to activate the climate functions.

The new air conditioning system has a menu for specific functions such as “warm feet” or “clear view” to demist windows, which can be activated by voice control or by touch.

Digital microphones in the car recognize whether it is the driver or the passenger speaking, and then can adjust the controls for either accordingly.’’

Other commands include “cool feet” and “fresh air.”

Just when you think we have exhausted all the things in a car we don't need, or doesn't matter, BAM, some tech geek earns another paycheck.  Voice control A/C............wow.
Most cars have a temperature thermostat  to keep the cab comfy, but I guess that strain of reaching to the dash 10 inches is just too much.  I can see that, but why stop at "my feet are cold?"   Why not, "I'm Hungry", and then the A/C starts to blow just enough Taco Bell
leftover wrapper aroma  in the cab........yum.  And what about, "Oh no.WHO Farted?"  then the A/C  blows out doses of Fabreeze, until the smell has dissipated .  Or, "I had a bad day Acey", then it would blow out the smell of you favorite Adult beverage.  And for the kids....
(a whiney) "I'm bored"   Acey starts to blow out Goldfish crakers from every orifice on the dash or rear compartment.  The challenge will be when you're out on a date and the lady says, "Acey...I'm in the mood"   Now what does it blow hot?  Cold, or Channel #5?

Will the Golf pay attention to a voice with a Russian accent?

You hear? The Russians stole the election in 2016, apparently by posting propaganda on Fakebook, a platform I've never been on (and the rest of us would do well to stay away from were it not for our addictions). The Russians (Soviets, whatever) have been using propaganda to shape public opinion since the beginning of time. Remember when they used to murder people to assist with their propagandizing ways? Now, they post things on a platform KNOWN for its fakeness, and we should be up in arms? Vomit out the false narrative that it's an "attack on our country?"

I won't buy a Golf until some tech geek figures out how to make it recognize beads of sweat on my forehead, and start blowing cold air based upon THAT.

Truth is, all VW models have been "blowing warm blood" for some time now. Recent re-structuring based, in part, on these kinds of nonsensical pursuits has them pushing out some of their best, most loyal, long term executives. Sad.
