She Runs It Opens First West Coast Office

She Runs It is opening its first West Coast chapter, in San Francisco.  Formerly Advertising Women of New York (AWNY), She Runs It changed its name in 2016 and expanded to Chicago, where it currently has 2,000 members.

A possible West Coast presence was researched by a task force of marketing, media and tech execs that first gathered in 2018 to identify the needs and preferences of the community. The task force included several advertising agencies, including Digitas, Heat, Mindshare, and RGA, as well as brand, media and tech representatives from companies such as Adobe, Bloomberg, CBS, Facebook, Google, Intel, NBCU, Verizon Media, Visa, Teads and Twitter.

“San Francisco was selected as a 'home base' because several of our member companies have offices and clients there,” said Lynn Branigan, CEO and President of She Runs It. She added that the new office will service the entire West Coast region. “As we looked at how others were serving women in marketing, media and tech out west, in addition to feedback we were hearing from executives in that market, we saw healthy demand."

One of the first programs hosted by this new chapter will be a Fearless Voices event held March 5 at Twitter’s headquarters. This event will feature Jacki Kelley, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Americas; Rick Welts, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Golden State Warriors; Dana Anderson, Chief Innovation Officer of MediaLink; and actor Sarah Kay.

“Our mission is to pave the way for women to lead, so we provide programs and events that help them build their networks, develop leadership skills, and learn from other women and men who have achieved success,” says Branigan.
