YouTube Introduces Video Builder, Geared Toward Small Businesses And First-Time Creators

Businesses are quickly changing the ways they communicate and interact with consumers, so YouTube has accelerated the launch of a free tool for businesses called Video Builder that can help creators create a good-quality video, despite the challenge of limited resources and sheltering in place.

Video Builder, the free tool announced Tuesday, aims to help smaller businesses and those with few resources make short videos to keep customers informed about new operating hours, promotions or services.

It allows creators to join images with animation and music to create a video that can be used and shared instantly.

The quality of the videos may surprise some marketers. For smaller businesses and those with less creative experiences, it can provide an efficient way to send messages, even for those dabbling with online video creation for the first time.

A how-to video demonstrates ways to create on the platform using only images, logo, and text.

Animation ties the content together and creators can choose music from YouTube’s library. A storyboard panel allows creators to see how images and text, such as a call to action, appear.

Havenly, an online platform that offers interior design services and Central Market, a gourmet grocery store chain with ten locations, are two examples of businesses that use Video Builder to highlight their curbside pick-up service. Which Wich, a sandwich chain that tapped the tool to offer a $5 promotion, is another example.

The videos are free to create and share via email, websites, social or wherever users can embed YouTube videos.

Custom colors and fonts are available to generate a short YouTube video in a time frame between six seconds and 15 seconds.
