'Bloomberg' Offers College Students 3-Month Free Subscription

Bloomberg Media is offering free access to college and graduate students worldwide, from April 22 to July 31.

Like a number of publishers, Bloomberg Media has experienced record traffic amid the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time Bloomberg.com had over 119 million unique visitors across its digital network in March.

The daily subscriber count increased four-times its previous record, despite lifting the paywall for COVID-19 coverage that Bloomberg deems particularly important to the general public.

“During these uncertain times, access to trustworthy media is more important than ever,” stated Justin B. Smith, CEO of Bloomberg Media.

He added: “We want to ensure this also extends to the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders who will need to navigate the impacts of the coronavirus for the unforeseeable future.”

Most students are getting their education remotely, while under lockdown in their homes, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bloomberg Media says it wants to help university students stay informed while they are taking classes virtually. The company also likely hopes students find Bloomberg's content useful and choose to pay to subscribe after the three months is up.

Students can register on Bloomberg.com using their university email address. The subscription includes unlimited access to the site, Bloomberg News, Bloomberg TV live streaming, videos and podcasts.

A Bloomberg Digital subscription costs $9.99 a month, or $340 a year.
