WPP affiliate company TMARC group, one of South Africa’s leading performance marketing companies is being folded into AKQA. WPP acquired a majority stake in TMARC in 2014.
TMARC and its Strike Mobile sub-brand will continue to operate under their respective names. The other subsidiary Platform 5, a specialist in data and performance marketing, will rebrand under the AKQA banner. Nick Terry, CEO of TMARC will remain in charge of the operation.
The TMARC network operates two studios in Johannesburg and Cape Town and employs 55 employees. The client roster includes Unilever, Campari, Danone, RMB, Pernod Ricard, Forever New and Nestle.
AKQA also has a studio in Cairo, as well as in Dubai. “These two new studios in South Africa now give us complete coverage of EMEA and also expand our performance marketing services for clients throughout the region,” explains an agency representative.
“To join the AKQA family and establish the South African office is a ... significant endorsement of our business,” stated Terry.
