Colgate has debuted an animated short film coinciding with the holiday season to remind viewers that smiles have the power to spark positive action, even in challenging times.
The two-minute “The Man Who Lost His Smile” uses a rhyming, storybook form to tell the tale of a man who, day after day, “Flipped on the news / nothing but yelling. / Flipped through the papers / and the gloom they were selling.” Until one day, a special smile pulls him out of his rut and sends him off in a brighter direction.
Red Fuse Communications, the cross-agency WPP team servicing the Colgate-Palmolive business, globally created the spot.
This animated film is just one part of Colgate’s broader Optimism campaign, which also included the October launch of the inaugural Colgate Optimism Project to celebrate Gen Z leaders who are putting optimism into action within their local communities.
