
YB Media LLC, the multichannel sports media platform
known as Yardbarker, has been acquired by Playmaker Capital Inc. Terms were not disclosed.
Yardbarker publishes over 25,000 full-text articles per month from its in-house editorial team
and 125+ content syndication partners, covering the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and college sports. The breaking story on the morning of the acquisition announcement was Simone Biles’ departure from the
women’s gymnastics team finals at the Tokyo Olympics.
In addition, Yardbarker runs over 5,000 sports and entertainment quizzes and slideshows.
Moreover, Yardbarker says it reaches more than 350,000 subscribers per month with its daily email newsletter: The Morning Bark. The newsletter, which serves as a low-cost user
acquisition tool, features a Top 10 rundown of the most important stories of the day and a customizable newsfeed.

Yardbarker also offers a daily Quiz of the Day
newsletter.
For Playmaker, the acquisition “is not only transformational, but also immediately financially accretive to our shareholders,” states Jordan Gnat,
founder-CEO of Toronto-based Playmaker.
Playmaker will leverage Yardbarker’s content of all the key North American sports “within our current futbol
sites’ assets and vice versa,” Gnat adds. It content will be cross-pollinated across all of Playmaker’s properties.
In a recent interview with TMX, Gnat described
Playmaker as “a digital sports media company that lives at the intersection of sports, betting, media and technology.”
The California-based Yardbarker was founded in
2006.
