George Manas Promoted To Global CEO At OMD

George Manas has been elevated to Global CEO at OMD, succeeding Florian Adamski, who earlier this morning was upped to CEO Omnicom Media Group. Adamski in turn succeeds Daryl Simm who was named to the new role of Chief Operating Officer at parent company Omnicom Group.

As CEO, Manas, previously Chief Media Officer OMD U.S., will lead OMD’s worldwide strategy, operations and capabilities, and work with the agency’s worldwide client roster.

The agency credited Manas with “continuously challenging legacy models and successfully building new approaches guided by the creative application of talent, tools and technology,” throughout his career.

“At Omnicom, we place considerable emphasis on succession planning and Florian and I have long agreed that George would be the right person to take the helm of OMD Worldwide,” said Simm.

As Chief Media Officer, Manas stewarded the U.S. rollout of OMD Design, OMD’s proprietary interface with data platform Omni.

Prior to OMD Manas served as President of Omnicom Media Group’s performance unit, Resolution Media.

Manas is succeeded by Mandy Walis albeit with a different title--Chief Operating Officer of OMD U.S. As COO she will work alongside and report to OMD U.S. CEO John Osborn. In addition, Walis will oversee the agency’s Business Transformation Office, which houses specialized capabilities focused on delivering speed, agility and efficiency across OMD’s operation.

Prior to OMD, she served as vice president of product strategy management at WPP’s Essence, where she led strategic initiatives related to the agency’s global growth and improvement.

Walis founded and led the employee resource group Women@Essence. She is also a founding member of Chief, a network dedicated to connecting and supporting women in leadership.
