Fast-Growing Recurrent Ventures Names Horowitz Head Of Ad Sales

Recurrent Ventures named Daniel Horowitz as vice president and head of advertising sales, the company said. Horowitz will oversee the direct advertising-sales teams and business across Recurrent’s portfolio of 19 media brands, including Domino, Saveur, Field & Stream, Popular Science, Task & Purpose, The Drive and more.

Previously, Horowitz was director of sales and strategy at Yahoo!/Verizon Media, with seven years at Yahoo! prior to the companies’ integration. He also spent several years at BBDO.

Chief Revenue Officer Matt Young stated: “Our team has done an amazing job of building and maintaining our client base, designing custom campaigns, and implementing a workflow across the portfolio. We are confident that Dan is the person to elevate and expand this work in 2022 and beyond.”

Miami-based Recurrent is backed by the private-equity firm North Equity LLC, which has been buying media businesses — sometimes distressed businesses — since 2018. In October of 2020, it acquired a portfolio of U.S. media brands from Bonnier Corp., including Saveur, Popular Science, Field & Stream and Outdoor Life. The latter three are more than 100 years old.

Before that, it acquired BobVila.com from the home-improvement guru Bob Vila in June 2018, The Drive, an automotive digital brand, from Meredith Corp. in November 2018. It’s made five acquisitions so far this year, including the Donut Media, which specializes in automotive content, last month. North Equity named the company Recurrent Ventures in June.
