A woman working late
comes up with an idea, writes it down and then hastily crumbles up and discards the paper in an ad
for Hewlett-Packard.
Somewhat unexpectedly, the camera then follows the journey of the crumbled-up piece of paper from a garbage bin to a rainy city street to a sewer. Eventually, the
paper emerges on a subway, where the woman walks past it. Then, the paper shows up in the meeting room where the woman reads it again and is emboldened to present her idea during a Zoom meeting.
“A thought is never lost when a voice is found,” reads a caption at the end of the ad.
The two-minute-plus ad, somewhat reminiscent of Ikea’s 2006 ad from director Spike Jonze, demonstrates the importance of sticking with your convictions and the durability of ideas. W+K
