Longtime TV, Entertainment Marketing Exec Mark Stroman, Who Led Early Fox TV Network Promotions, Dies

Longtime TV and entertainment marketing executive Mark Stroman, one of original executives at then startup Fox Television Network, has died following complications from COVID-19.

Stroman worked at Fox Broadcasting Company for 16 years and rose to senior vice president of national promotions at News Corp One, where he was responsible for integrated promotions and marketing for all News Corp. companies.

HIs show promotions helped the early success at the Fox Television Network. This included "Family Guy," "The Simpsons," "Married… with Children," "America’s Most Wanted," "Beverly Hills, 90210," "Melrose Place" and "The X-Files."

He also worked on co-marketing promotions with Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, Polaroid, Levi’s, Sprint and Visa at the network.

Stroman went on to start up his own agency, Entertainment Marketing Partners, where he did work for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, including its iconic "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" campaign.

Stroman and his twin brother, Erik also worked at the new marketing division of Endeavor, the major Hollywood agency, which included work for clients including Maserati, The CW, Jet Blue, UPN, Hallmark Channel, Activision-Blizzard, 20th Century Fox and Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions.

He also worked at McGhee Entertainment, where one of his main efforts was promotion and marketing for the legendary rock'n-roll band Kiss, and during his career developed campaigns for John Varvatos, BMW Mini Cooper, John Paul Mitchell Systems, Supercuts, NFL Films, and Pro Bull Riders.

Most recently, Stroman was the chief marketing officer at SPIN Media, and worked on other projects with his brother.

At Promax, a promotion and marketing trade association, Stroman was an officer, and twice served as chairman of the board of directors.

Stroman had a larger-than-life, energetic persona, according to many who knew him.

“He was always the funniest and smartest person in the room, with the unique ability to bring everyone together,” says Doc McGhee, chief executive officer of McGhee Entertainment. ”Mark was the rock star of marketing.”
