Disney has hired Mark Bozon, most recently creative
director of games for Apple Arcade, as vice president of Disney’s Next Generation Storytelling initiative, which includes its metaverse development efforts.
Bozon announced his exit from
Apple after 12 years on May 20 via a tweet, without revealing his “dream job” destination a the time.
At Disney, he will lead the creative vision and oversee implementable plans
for the storytelling group.
He is expected to create a multidisciplinary team to work across gaming, film, toys and parks to deliver interconnected experiences and incubate “bold
ideas” for next-gen storytelling, according to Variety.
The Next Generation Storytelling team is meant to consolidate and coordinate the company’s development of the full
range of digital, physical and virtual experiences for new storytelling “canvases” and audience engagement, according to Disney.
Bozon was hired by and will report to Mike White, a
Disney veteran who earlier this year was named to lead development and coordination of Disney’s metaverse strategy.
