It’s not often these days that an ad attempts to make its mark via clever wordplay. So we must give LendingTree some points for this new spot featuring spokeswoman Molly Shannon.

The ad, via Mekanism, features Shannon in a diner chatting with a waitress. “So Brenda, did you get your car fixed after your fenda benda?” asks Shannon. “Ah, no, not yet, Linda. I’m still looking for a lenda,” Brenda replies.

Shannon then explains that with Lending Tree she didn’t have to look for lendas because “The lendas came to Linda!”

The ad continues as Brenda explains that she thought she had to be a big spenda to get that kind of legal tenda, but Linda replies that they have a contenda for nearly any agenda. Brenda then says that she’s gonna surrenda and find a lenda.

The coup de grace is when Linda asks for a coffee with “two Splenda.” Brenda replies “I rememba!”
