Casey Bloys Promoted To Chairman, CEO Of HBO-HBO Max

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has promoted Casey Bloys from chief content officer to chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max, reporting directly to WBD CEO David Zaslav.

The other heads of WBD businesses who report to Zaslav also have CEO titles. They include Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca, chairpersons/CEOs of Warner Bros. Film Group; Channing Dungey, chairman, Warner Bros. Television Group; Kathleen Finch, chairman/CCO, US Networks Group; Chris Licht, chairman/CEO of CNN Worldwide; and Luis Silberwasser, chairman/CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports.

Bloys joined HBO in 2004 as director of development for HBO Independent Productions, and was promoted to vice president of that division the following year. He was named VP of HBO Entertainment in 2006, senior VP in 2009 and executive VP in 2013. He became president of programming for HBO in 2016 and added HBO Max content in 2020.

In July, he renewed his contract with WBD for five more years. 

Bloys' series credits include "Game of Thrones," "Succession," "Westworld," "True Detective," The White Lotus," "Veep," "Enlightened," "Getting On," "Insecure" and "Girls."  

This year, the HBO/HBO Max brand's "House of Dragon" spinoff series has set records for viewership (averaging 29 million weekly), and its productions dominated this year's Emmys, with 140 nominations and 38 awards to Netflix's 26.
