Michael Phelps, Noodles & Company Promote Online Therapy Giveaways

Consumers can get a free month of online therapy services through new month-long promotions from Talkspace and BetterHelp, two leaders in the field.

Talkspace will give a month of free services to 31 winners of its “Start From the Top” sweepstakes, part of a new campaign featuring Michael Phelps.

The Olympic swimming champ, who has been very public about his own mental health problems, kicked off the campaign Wednesday morning with an Instagram post encouraging people to start the new year by proactively making mental wellness a top priority.

Consumers enter the sweepstakes by commenting on Phelps’ post with the hashtag #StartfromtheTop” and following @Talkspace.

BetterHelp, meanwhile, is giving away some 129 times as many free months of service – up to 4,000 of them --in a $1 million promotion that also began Wednesday in a partnership with QSR chain Noodles & Company.

All consumers need to do is visit a Noodles & Company restaurant or order online, and then follow instructions found on either their physical receipts or confirmation emails.

Noodles & Company, whose tagline is Uncommon Goodness, tells Marketing Daily that the giveaway is being supported with such tactics as in-restaurant messaging and signage, a custom landing page at both its website and BetterHelp’s, an email to its Noodles Rewards members, influencer partnerships, organic social media, and paid media.

The BetterHelp tie-in follows Noodles & Company’s initiatives in providing mental health perks to its own employees. For example, the chain offers employees free 24/7 mental wellness and counseling support through LifeWorks, which provides such services to employers as a human resources platform.

“Qualified team members can also take advantage of the Balance Bucks program, which grants an annual reimbursement of up to $625 for expenses to help support mental health, such as gym memberships, pet adoption, fitness gear and much more,” notes Noodles & Company.

The chain has also created the Noodles & Company Foundation, which provides employees with “sudden crisis” support.

According to Dr. Mental, run by a team of mental health advocates, BetterHelp therapy normally costs from $60 to $90 per week, and Talkspace between $65 and $115.
