'The Washington Post' To Launch Free Streaming TV Channel On Amazon Freevee

The Washington Post is launching a free ad-supported TV channel with Amazon Freevee, a free streaming video service. 

Washington Post Television will go live on Saturday with continuous coverage of King Charles III’s coronation.

It will be anchored by Libby Casey, senior news anchor in London, working with senior correspondent Rhonda Colvin and contributing royal correspondent Sarah Hewson.

The channel will be available 24/7, seven days a week.

“On Amazon Freevee we will be able to reach audiences who are increasingly looking online to get their news and entertainment,” says Micah Gelman, director of video at The Post.

Gelman adds: “This is a new avenue for us to broadcast breaking news with our incredible reporting team, helmed by Libby Casey who brings a deep understanding to a wide range of issues with her experience in breaking news, political stories and major events.

The Washington Post is also partnering with media technology company Amagi, which will will provide tools including: 

  • Amagi Cloudport for scheduling and cloud playout and delivery
  • Amagi Thunderstorm, providing service-side ad delivery
  • Amagi Live for managing breaking and live event coverage
  • Amagi Ads Plus, a platform that will add monetization capabilities.
