Few other genres in popular entertainment are as invincible as superheroes.
As further proof -- as if anybody needs any -- here comes another animated “Superman” series.
Titled “My Adventures With Superman,” the show premieres next Thursday on, of all places, Adult Swim.
It premieres that day at midnight, which is a time period usually set aside for content better suited to the middle of the night -- “adult” content, you might say, in keeping with the Adult Swim brand.
But “My Adventures With Superman” plays like an animated superhero series for kids that could air at any old time of day.
The series focuses on Superman at a specific age in his life -- young adulthood.

In the show, the still-maturing Clark Kent is grappling with the realization that he possesses powers far beyond those of mortal young adults,
This superman is not yet Superman with a capital “S.” Instead, he is a transplant from Kansas who is beginning to make his way in the world in the big city of Metropolis.
His first stop: The Daily Planet. At the outset of Episode One of “My Adventures With Superman,” we see the overgrown, glasses-wearing Clark heading to the newspaper offices to begin his first day as an intern, presumably unpaid.
Joining Clark for his own internship at the paper is an overly exuberant roommate named Jimmy Olsen, an aspiring photographer.
Of course, there is a third intern, and her name is Lois Lane. In Episode One, she leads her two new, naïve pals on a dangerous investigation to find some giant, foldable robots that are poised to destroy Metropolis.
This is all on the three interns’ first day. Predictably, Editor In Chief Perry White is skeptical of the whole thing and forbids them from pursuing the story. Just as predictably, they ignore him.
When the robots are found, Clark applies his superpowers -- which even he cannot quite control -- to neutralizing the robots.
Thus, the plot of the premiere can be boiled down to: Superman Vs. Transformers, something akin to the classic monster clashes of Japanese postwar cinema such as “King Kong Vs. Godzilla.”
The show’s title, “My Adventures With Superman,” refers to Lois, seen in the photo above with Superman, with whom she is quite smitten. The title represents her point of view.
So, Superman is back in cartoon form, again. Adult Swim is a property of Warner Bros. Discovery, and so is DC Comics, long-time steward of the Superman brand, along with Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and others.
Perhaps someone will one day produce a superclash for the ages: DC vs. Marvel.
“My Adventures With Superman” premieres on Thursday, July 6, at 12 a.m. Eastern on Adult Swim.
