Maserati Appoints New Global CMO

Stellantis luxury brand Maserati has named marketing veteran Giovanni Perosino as its new global CMO.

He replaces Paolo Tubito, who left the company six months ago and is now CMO at Sani/Ikos Group, a luxury resort hotel group in Greece and Spain.

Perosino reports to Maserati Brand CEO Davide Grasso, who was previously CMO at Nike.

The luxury brand’s North America region is currently without a CMO after Kelly MacDonald was named CEO of Maserati North America, effective Dec. 1.

Perosino spent the last two years as CMO at ITA Airways.

“After a career break from automotive for a few years, I’m happy to return to a realm that taught me so much in the past,” Perosino says in a release. “I’m sure it still has a lot to give me too.

"Maserati has not only made history in the global automotive industry but is also now one of the biggest names in the future of mobility," he says.

However the brand appears to be struggling with plans to bring and electric vehicle to market. “After delays to the planned battery-electric GranTurismo Folgore and Grecale Folgore, Maserati has also made the decision to delay — if not scrap altogether — the electric Quattroporte sedan,” according to Jalopnik.

Perosino has built a robust, 20-plus-year career in the global automotive and luxury sectors.

He began his career at Fiat where rose through the ranks, eventually becoming group vice president of marketing communications.

Between 2010 and 2019, he worked in various management roles at  Volkswagen Group and Audi. where he helped lead the creation of award-winning advertising campaigns.

At the end of 2019, he joined Lamborghini as chief commercial officer, at the helm of an international team of more than 200 sales and marketing professionals, distributed between headquarters and subsidiaries. During this experience, he also contributed to global business development in sales, after-sales, dealers pre-owned, financial services, classic cars, mobility services, premium CRM and retail.
