Pizza Hut Does The Breaking Up For You With New Goodbye Pies

No matter what time of year, break-ups are a drag, but can be especially messy during the Valentine’s season. Pizza Hut’s latest promotion handles the difficult part, the actual dumping, leaving former loves a parting gift: a Hot Honey pizza.

“Goodbye Pies” will launch the chain’s Hot Honey pizza, whose twist is a crust drizzled with a hot-chili-pepper-infused honey. Pizza Hut will deliver a personalized, simple breakup message on custom packaging and a Hot Honey pizza as consolation. The Goodbye Pie pizza boxes also leave a space on the top to add the break-upper's name.

According to a YouGov.com poll, despite many thinking of Feb. as the month of love, just as many are ending whatever relationship they’re in before they’re on the hook for Valentine’s Day, with 45% of people agreeing it's better to do the deed right before the holiday itself.

"With the launch of Goodbye Pies, we are bringing that perfect blend of sweet and heat experience to real life, delivering spicy news in the sweetest way for Valentine's Day," said Lindsay Morgan, Pizza Hut CMO in a release.

From now until Feb. 14, customers can log on to GoodbyePies.com to apply for a chance to send a free Goodbye Pie to rid themselves of the need to have always awkward breakup talk. The offer will be available in “U.S. cities notorious for heartbreaks – New York, Chicago and Miami,” while supplies last, according to the release.

For those not in the participating cities, customers can request Pizza Hut instead write a breakup text for them to send, along with a link to a gift card for the soon-to-be ex to redeem a free Hot Honey pizza. (Again, good only while supplies last for this limited offer.)
