UN Secretary General Calls For Global Ban On Fossil Fuel Ads

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres took the marketing industry to task today calling on advertising and PR agencies to stop working for the fossil fuel industry.
Specifically, he called on ad and PR firms to stop taking on new fossil fuel clients and to start making plans to drop existing clients.

Guterres told a crowd at New York’s Museum of Natural History that agencies must “stop acting as enablers” in the fossil fuel industry’s successful effort over decades to “shamelessly greenwash” its way to higher profits while investing a mere 2.5% of total annual spending on renewable energy projects.
He also called on media outlets around the world to stop accepting fossil fuel ads and urged all countries to ban such ads, just as some countries have banned ads for tobacco products.
Guterres tagged the fossil fuel industry the “godfather of climate chaos,” and charged that agencies were “fueling the madness” with massive ad campaigns that have deceived the public and sown seeds of doubt about the industry’s harmful role in propelling climate change. By doing so, he added, agencies risked tarnishing their own brands.
He also called on fossil fuel industry players to invest more in renewable energy as a way of ensuring its own future.
I'm sure he flew to New York for UN meetings on his solar powered jet and went to headquarters in his wind powered limo. Yeah; right.
A iie from front to back. Oil is not a "fossil fuel." Oil is an abiotic fluid that replenishes itself underground, like water. That's why old "dried out" oil rigs & pumps somehow "magically" start producing oil again a decade or so later. Pretty much everything the Rockefellers have been involved with is an inversion of reality. Ah well, O hell..."You can't force salvation on people."
Tony Guterres is do as I say not as I do this guy doesn't know what he's talking about since it is all hot air and virtue-signaling as well.
Ben B: I think that's what Guterres is talking about -- the hot air that comes from burning fossil fuels.
Tom Siebert: What difference does it make that oil in the ground is dead not alive, or that it replenishes itself over time? Isn't the pollution from burning the real problem, both in dirty air and in increasing air temperatures? And what "salvation" are you talkinng about?
Still going to need gas no matter what, which as I said Guterres is full of hot air as he doesn't do what he preaches like many on the topic who are alarmist as well. I'm for hybrids part gas/plug-in not sold on EV as getting those Batteries isn't good for the environment and taking a few hours to charge going on a few-hour trip or vacation has too many cons with EVs. Fossil fuels are here to stay as I said before. I believe in climate change just not an alarmist that it's going to be the end of the world as Al Gore keeps saying every 10 years and so far he has been wrong like the rest of the alarmists on climate change who have their private jets and do more talking than walk to walk do as I say not as I do.
Ben B: I'd say so far Gore has been right. Think of all the hottest on record years and all the storms of the century in the past couple of decades.
