Black Americans Want Culturally Relevant Content, Study Says

Publishers trying to reach Black audiences should keep this in mind: 62% of Black Americans want streaming services that feature culturally relevant content — for them.

That’s the finding of new research from Horowitz Research.

In addition, Black Americans are largely happy with the service they are getting. Of those polled, 63% are satisfied with the channels/content geared toward Black audiences.

“Culturally relevant content has always been an important piece of the media pie for Black audiences,” says Adriana Waterston, executive vice president and Insights & Strategy Lead for Horowitz Research, a division of M/A/R/C Research.

Waterston adds that “offering top-notch Black content can be an important differentiator.”
