Southern chicken chain Chicken Salad Chick, which sells a myriad of variations on the classic chicken salad, has added a new limited-time dessert to its menu. What makes this treat even sweeter is that its proceeds go to childhood cancer research.
This week the chain launched the third year of its annual Cookies for a Cure campaign in partnership with CURE Childhood Cancer, a national nonprofit “dedicated to funding life-changing pediatric cancer research for children and families across the country,” per the announcement.
For the entire month of September, which is Childhood Cancer Month, all proceeds from the sales of the restaurant’s Lemon Burst Buttercream Cookies will go directly to CURE. The tangy sweet cookies are topped with lemon zest buttercream frosting in a nod to the gold ribbon international symbol for childhood cancer.

"Cookies for a CURE has become a tremendous platform for us as an organization to make a tangible impact in the lives of so many children and families suffering the reality of this deadly, debilitating illness," said Scott Deviney, CEO of Chicken Salad Chick, in the announcement. "Our partnership with CURE is just one of the ways we aim to serve those in our community who truly need it the most."
The chain is marketing the charitable promotion via its social platforms such as Instagram.
Over previous years, the chain raised approximately $125,000 from the Cookies for a Cure promotion. The chain also recently announced it raised more than $525,000 with its annual Giving Card program in 2023, which supports local food charities in addition to cancer research through the chain’s non-profit CSC Foundation. The foundation was formed by founders Kevin and Stacy Brown and their business partners in 2014 with the mission of fighting cancer and feeding the hungry.
