Lincoln Project received a big plug from The Late Show With Stephen Colbert last Thursday when Colbert riffed on its recent ad featuring Sam Elliott as the gravelly voiced narrator who urges men to vote for Kamala Harris. 

Colbert had some fun with Elliott’s dropping the F-bomb in one line in the ad: “Are we really going down that same fucking road again?” Elliott was referring to Trump’s vision of America “filled with lies and hate.” 

There’s also a line in the ad where Elliott tells men to get over “that woman thing” and vote for the right candidate — Kamala Harris. 

Colbert had a lot of fun with that line as well, turning it into to a sort of heart-to-heart “birds and bees” conversation during which Colbert himself had a hard time keeping a straight face. But he recovered and deftly managed to reference Elliott’s trademark walrus mustache in the bit.  

Elliott concludes the ad by declaring, “It’s time to be a man and vote for a woman.”
