AI In Translation: Firms Partner To Send Emails In Local Languages

Video experience platform Vimeo faced a challenge: How could it tailor emails for consumers throughout the world in their local languages?

At Vimeo’s request, MessageGears and Smartling have partnered to  streamline email localization and create marketing campaigns that can “quickly and easily be adapted for a worldwide audience,” says Aisling Nolan, vice president of customer success at Smartling.

MessageGears provides a warehouse-native customer engagement platform for enterprise brands. Smartling uses AI and machine learning to deliver translations at scale.

While prompted by Vimeo’s request, the integration is now available to all MessageGears customers.

According to MessageGears and Smartling, the integration supports:

  • Translation and localization of billions of words into more than 450 languages.
  • Ability to submit messages from the MessageGears platform directly to Smartling in select languages, and track the translation status.
  • Testing that allows marketers to preview localized content, send test emails in translated languages and receive notifications for each locale.

One question: International marketers have long observed the credo: Think globally, act locally.

Can an AI platform reflect language and cultural nuances?

Vimeo says yes. “By integrating MessageGears and Smartling’s language technology into our workflow, we’re able to create targeted, high-quality content that communicates directly to our audience base and use real-time insights to optimize performance,” says Charlie Ungaschick, chief marketing officer of Vimeo.
