As CES 2025 kicks off in Las Vegas, beauty business watchers are bracing themselves for a flurry of launches, from goofy gadgets to game-changing tech.
Three big names -- L'Oréal, Samsung and Amorepacific -- are getting early buzz.
L’Oréal is polishing its rep as the most tech-forward beauty brand, introducing Cell BioPrint. The portable lab-on-a-chip tool promises to help people forecast -- and outsmart -- their skin’s aging trajectory. The tabletop hardware device takes just five minutes to analyze a skin sample, studying the protein composition to predict how skin will age.
L'Oréal says the tech is made possible by L'Oréal's Longevity Integrative Scienceä, which explores how biological mechanisms affect skin's appearance, and through an exclusive partnership with Korean startup NanoEnTek.

People put a facial tape strip on their cheek and place it into a buffer solution. That solution is loaded into the L'Oréal Cell BioPrint cartridge and inserted into the machine for analysis. While L'Oréal Cell BioPrint processes the sample, the Skin Connect device takes several photographs of the consumer’s face. The shopper also answers a short questionnaire about aging and skin concerns.
The resulting analysis provides personalized details that include the skin’s biological age and advice about slowing down the aging process, ingredient responsiveness, such as how it might respond to retinol, and a measure of reactivity, like a tendency toward dark spots or enlarged pores.
L'Oréal Cell BioPrint will pilot with a L'Oréal brand in Asia in 2025.
The company says the development of the new technology was inspired by the hit-or-miss experiences most consumers have with skincare. It cites a study of 2,000U.S. consumers, with nearly 80% relying on trial and error to determine what products suit them. The average person reports trying seven different cleansers before finding the right fit.
Samsung also wants to have a say in people’s beauty routines, introducing the Micro LED Beauty Mirror. By analyzing individual skin types, the mirror provides tailored product recommendations “to make self-care more intuitive and effective, leveraging innovative beauty solutions developed by Amorepacific," according to Samsung.
Amorepacific, Korea’s largest cosmetics company, was named a CES 2025 Innovation Award Honoree for its new Wanna-Beauty AI. Its AI Skin Analysis & Care Solution will be unveiled in the Samsung mirror.
Like the L’Oréal product, the innovation combines camera-based optical and contact-type skin diagnoses, promising in-depth personalized suggestions.
