State Farm Cancels Super Bowl Spot

State Farm has decided not to run a Super Bowl spot this year, citing the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.

"State Farm, State Farm agents, and our employees are all focused on helping customers impacted by the Southern California wildfires in the midst of this tragedy," a company spokesperson said in an emailed statement to USA Today and other news outlets. "Our claims force is the largest in the industry and we are bringing the full scale and force of our catastrophe response teams to help customers recover – whether they are on the ground in LA or across the country.”

The company has been criticized for its decision last year to not renew insurance policies for 72,000 property owners in California, notes the New York Post and the San Francisco Chronicle

State Farm, which serves more than 8 million customers in Southern California, will now offer renewals to residential policyholders impacted by the fires that were previously going to be dropped, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“State Farm said it has received more than 7,850 home and auto claims linked to the California fires and to date has paid out a total of roughly $50 million to customers,” according to CBS News

Creative plans for the previously purchased spot had not been revealed.

“State Farm had been a frequent Super Bowl advertiser in recent years, and last year’s Big Game saw Arnold Schwarzenegger (playing ‘Agent State Farm’) joined by his 'Twins' co-star Danny DeVito,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. “It was not immediately clear what State Farm’s 2025 Super Bowl ad would have entailed, or whether it would include other celebrity cameos.”

The company was preparing to air a second consecutive Big Game ad featuring Schwarzenegger as Agent State Farm, according to the San Francisco Chronicle

Fox, which is broadcasting this year’s Super Bowl, is sold out of inventory, though it has a waitlist in the event of cancellations.
