Former big agency media executive Nick Brien has been named interim CEO of out-of-home media giant Outfront Media. He is also a board member and a candidate to become the permanent CEO of the publicly traded company, succeeding Jeremy Male, who previously announced plans to retire early this year.
As CEO, Male oversaw Outfront Media's transition from the former CBS Outdoor Americas unit to a dominant, freestanding, out-of-home advertising supplier, and took it public.
The company trades on Nasdaq under the OUT symbol, and its shares closed Monday at $18.25, near its 52-week high of $19.95.
Brien, whose most recent full-time role was CEO of Enthusiast Media, and CEO of ad-tech firm Amobee before that, has been an Outfront Media board member since 2016.
Prior to jumping to the supply side, Brien had a long career on Madison Avenue including top positions at some of the biggest full-service and media agencies, including CEO of Dentsu, iCrossing, McCann Worldgroup, although he is probably best known as the CEO who founded Interpublic's famed IPG Mediabrands unit.
As Interim CEO, Brien will work with the Outfront Media board on the search for a permanent CEO, including himself as a candidate.
