Celebs Come Out For The Trevor Project, Video Says 'Pride Belongs Here'

For LGBTQ+ youth across the country, the Trump administration’s attacks on the LGBTQ+ community aren’t a “debate” or “culture war issue,” but a matter of life and death.

LGBTQ+ young people are more than four times as likely to attempt suicide than their straight counterparts, according to youth LGBTQ+ suicide prevention organization The Trevor Project.

More than 100 celebrities and other prominent public figures have signed an open letter to LGBTQ+ youth published by The Trevor Project on June 2, with the message “We Will Not Stop Fighting For You.” The open letter calls on audiences to protect LGBTQ+ youth suicide prevention services from the Trump administration’s planned cuts. Among the celebrities to lend their support to the effort are Christina Aguilera, Alan Cumming, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dua Lipa, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

In a statement, The Trevor Project CEO Jaymes Black expressed gratitude for “the influential voices in entertainment who are speaking out and reminding the public that suicide prevention is about people – not politics.”

The open letter also arrives on the heels of The Trevor Project’s "Pride Belongs Here"  campaign video in partnership with Macy’s, which continues a longstanding relationship with the retailer.

Last year, Macy’s celebrated its 2024 Pride campaign with initiatives that included “a special round-up in-stores and online donation campaign benefitting The Trevor Project.” There’s no such announcement this year, as the retailer is being less vocal about its Pride Month initiatives, while still also participating in some nationwide Pride events, according to CNN. Macy’s appears to still have a “Pride Shop” collection online, as well as a call to donate to The Trevor Project once visitors click through to the collection.

“Pride Belongs Here” also includes a 3:1 donation matching drive through June 8, courtesy of a group of unnamed donors to the group.
