Absolut Embraces Artistic Heritage With Keith Haring

Absolut is introducing a limited edition artist-inspired bottle that harkens back to its past.

“Following the success of the Absolut Warhol launch last year—said to be the biggest artist edition yet from the brand—Pernod Ricard’s Absolut Vodka has, today, launched Absolut Haring, honoring another pop-artist icon from the same 1980’s era: Keith Haring,” according to Forbes.

Haring became the second artist to work with Absolut after Andy Warhol, designing a poster “as part of the Absolut Art Collection -- an initiative that, between 1985 and 2004, invited over 550 artists to collaborate with the brand,” according to Wallpaper. "Haring produced four lithographs, which are now held by the Spritmuseum in Stockholm along with the rest of the collection, with one being chosen to become the face of Absolut’s campaign.”

The Absolut Haring Artist-Edition bottle reimagines the original artwork in three dimensions.

“This collectable new Haring bottle captures the electric spirit of that original 1986 design, the artist’s trademark reds and yellows, framed by a vibrant crowd of dancing figures and capped with a hand-drawn version of the classic Absolut medallion,” according to The Luxe Review. “His signature is emblazoned across the sleeve.”

The brand is taking a distinct approach to distribution.

"Absolut Haring will land at several airport locations from July 1," according to Forbes. "Among them will be London’s Gatwick Airport through Avolta’s large duty-free stores where a pop-up vending machine will serve up some exclusive Absolut Haring merchandise for passengers who have bought a bottle. The brand is also promising eye-catching 3D billboards at major air hubs like London Heathrow and Sydney."

But the reimagined collaboration doesn’t stop there.

“The company also introduced the Absolut Haring Fizz cocktail, inspired by Haring’s travels in Asia and his connection to New York,” according to Branding In Asia. “The cocktail combines apple, orange, toasted sesame, and ginger, with a golden yellow color reminiscent of the original artwork.”
