Accessible Travel Hub Serving Disabled Travelers Unveiled

In what they’re calling a first, Tourism Bureau Visit Lauderdale and Trip Advisor have teamed to launch Accessible Travel Hub, a platform for travelers with disabilities.

The project was developed with ad agency Spark, Visit Lauderdale’s AOR.

Located on Tripadvisor.com, the new hub offers curated guidance, peer-informed content, and planning resources designed for a wide range of needs, from mobility devices to sensory sensitivities and neurodivergent travel.

Visit Lauderdale’s contributions highlight specific accessible experiences throughout the area, from beach wheelchairs and ADA-compliant trails to sensory-friendly museums and inclusive restaurants. Editorial features include itineraries, first-person recommendations, and trip-planning insights not typically found on destination websites.

The companies say the effort is the first time a major global travel platform has offered a dedicated accessibility experience with the level of scale and specificity it offers.

The companies cite research that 96% of travelers with mobility disabilities have experienced accommodation problems when traveling. 86% report flight challenges and 79% have encountered issues with local transportation.

The companies say that the Hub, which will be featured in an ad campaign throughout the summer and fall, is a model for the broader travel industry.

Travelers with disabilities represent one of the most underserved audiences in the travel economy, said Dulani Porter, executive vice president and partner at Spark. “This initiative is our way of starting to change that.”
