Vita Coco Plays The Game -- Many Games, In Fact

Vita Coco, reportedly the coconut-water market leader in the U.S., has assembled a team of top athletes across multiple sports as brand reps.

“Major League Hydration by Vita Coco,” gets a timely introduction during the NFL’s opening week and the U.S. Open, featuring statements of endorsement from several of the top athletes on the squad.

The team include Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl running back James Cook, Jacksonville Jaguars star Travis Hunter, and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

“I always keep a Vita Coco Coconut Water with me — it has naturally occurring electrolytes and doesn’t have the artificial dyes and stuff some other drinks do,” Waddle said in a statement.

Tennis players on the roster include No.8-ranked Amanda Ansimova, Anna Frey, and RedFoo, a musician, perhaps best known as one-half of duo LMFAO, who made his professional tennis debut earlier this year at age 49 when he qualified for the ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour.

“I drink Vita Coco because I feel like it gives me the electrolytes I need to stay locked in through tough practices,” Ansimova said in a statement. “It’s become an essential part of how I prepare, compete and recover.”

The roster also includes U.S. Men’s Soccer star Weston McKennie, PGA golf pro Min Woo Lee, and women’s pickleball star Catherine Parenteau.

“Major League Hydration” by Vita Coco is part of a broader focus on promoting the beverage for its electrolyte content — 3.5 times more electrolytes than the leading sports drink, the brand claims — and purported benefits over other sports drinks. That includes a recent social media partnership with MLS soccer player Christian Ramirez, who plays forward for the LA Galaxy.

Vita Coco also has plans to expand the roster in the future, with Kirban adding the brand would “continue building our bench of athletes across sports who are fueling their game with Vita Coco.”
