Americans are stressed and not just over political differences, according to
research from Stagwell’s Harris Poll and the American Psychological Association.
Technology is also to blame, per the research, which is based on a poll of more than 3,000 US
adults aged 18 and older. 57% say the rise in AI is causing significant stress, up from 49% in a similar poll taken last year.
And 69% blame inaccurate or misleading information as
a major source of stress, up 7 percentage points from a year ago.

A majority of those polled say that due to the “state of the
nation” they’ve considered moving to another country including 53% of parents and 63% of those between the ages of 18 and 34. 76% say the future of the nation is a
significant source of stress.
“Beyond this concern about societal division lies a deeper, more pervasive emotional strain: loneliness,” the APA wrote in its analysis. The survey found
that 54% feel isolated from others, while 50% feel “left out” and lacking companionship.
Adults with high levels of loneliness are more likely to suffer
from chronic health issues (80%) than those with moderate (66%) or low (68%) loneliness levels.
