Hungry college students with school pride can now earn some cheaper
chow.
This week marks the inaugural Chipotle U Rivalry Week, the chain’s new program that will award students in U.S. college towns that recruit the highest number of new Chipotle U
Rewards members with a BOGO offer.
The program’s new microsite, seen here, has a heatmap of 100 college towns that eat the most Chipotle,
along with a live countdown clock. To boost their university’s rank, students log into or sign up for the brand’s Chipotle Rewards program and validate their college enrollment through
digital identity wallet ID.me. The site will be updated daily this week with current sign up stats.
"Chipotle U Rivalry Week harnesses campus spirit and turns it into real rewards for
students," says Curt Garner, president, chief strategy and technology officer, Chipotle, in a release. "The college towns that activate the most superfans will have their passion rewarded with the
ultimate trophy: free Chipotle."

At publication, the top 10 college towns were Tempe, Arizona; Columbus, Ohio; Tallahassee and Gainesville, Florida; Greensboro, North Carolina; State College,
Pennsylvania; New Brunswick, New Jersey; Austin and Baton Rouge. Students can submit their town online if it isn’t listed.
The competition will close Nov. 17.
Launched
earlier this year, Chipotle U Rewards gives college students a 1,000 point bonus upon sign-up, along with 20% more rewards points per purchase.
Separately, on Veteran’s Day Nov. 11 from
4 P.M. to 8 P.M. local time, Chipotle customers with a valid military ID who order an entrée in-restaurant will receive a second entrée for free.
