A federal court Tuesday granted radio giant Cumulus Media a preliminary injunction against Nielsen prohibiting it from enforcing its so-called "network policy" while Cumulus' suit proceeds.

"Nielsen is ENJOINED AND RESTRAINED from charging a commercially unreasonable rate for its Nationwide Report as a complete, standalone product," the order reads, adding, "For purposes of this Order, a rate that is equal to or lower than the highest annual 2026 rate Nielsen charges any broadcaster (whether network or local) for Nationwide is presumptively reasonable."

Cumulus' suit alleges Nielsen's "tying policy" is an anticompetitive method for maintaining "its monopoly power over both local and national radio ratings data markets."

Citing "competitively sensitive information," the court also ordered that details of the opinion remain sealed for the time being while the parties meet to discuss redactions until a public version of the opinion is released by the court.
