Today's post was inspired by an op-ed in Editor & Publisher about the "vanishing" newspaper political cartoonist, and my attempt to once again fill in the vacuum.
Okay, so I'm not the funniest or most
clever cartoonist (see above), but at least I'm trying. This one is entitled, "The Federal Communications Daisy Chain," but I toyed with a couple of other takes, including, "His Master's Voice," "The
Perfect Phone Call," and "FEDERALCOMMUNICATIONSCENTiPAD," an homage to one of the best "South Park" episodes ever. (Be thankful I didn't
go with that one.)

Also, there's already been so much written about the Trump Administration's heavy handed pressure to silence the voice of Stephen Colbert -- this time, forcing CBS to pull
his interview with Texas Rep. and Democratic Senate challenger James Talarico -- on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." So what more could I say in terms of conventional "Red, White & Blog"
commentary that you don't already know about, including CBS' owner Skydance's backroom push to get the White House and the FCC to back its proxy effort to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.
You
can watch the interview embedded below, but CBS' decision to pull the interview from its FCC-regulated airwaves more than doubled the potential audience on YouTube, so how did that work out?
Question: Do I have a future in political cartooning? Should I keep running some of them here? Or should I just stick to my knitting and cover wonky ad trade stuff?
