Pizza Hut is recruiting one American to eat free
pizza for an entire year,
“According to Pizza Hut, the ‘Hut Crust Connoisseur’ is a real position that will pay someone to eat pizza crust,” according to USA Today. “More specifically, Pizza Hut says it will
pay someone $31,415.92, which are the first seven digits of pi, to eat pizza for an entire year.”
People can apply by submitting a review of Pizza Hut’s new
Hand Tossed pizza to www.pizzahutcrust.com.
“You eat your crust. You eat your friend’s crust. You'd eat a stranger's
crust if it wasn’t ‘weird,’” according to the page. “We want you. Pizza Hut is looking for one professional Hut Crust Connoisseur to join the crew. This isn’t a
role where you need to know what synergy means, you just need to love Pizza Hut. You’ll taste, test, and review our crust innovations.”

The application asks
for a “crust manifesto” in lieu of a resume.
“The new position is part of the brand's new Hut Crust platform, which offers customers a $10 three-topping
pizza, available in three of the restaurant's classic crusts: the Hand Tossed, Tavern Style, or Thin 'N Crispy,” according to People. “The ‘new and improved’ Hand
Tossed will feature a new Garlic-Parm Hut Blend, which marks the recipe's first change in more than a decade.”
The company is pitching the Hut Crust Connoisseur’s role
as “guardian” of the Hut Crust platform.
“The $31,415.92 is a significant jump from the £5,000 ($6,700) that Pizza Hut Delivery offered for a UK-based Chief Crust Taster in 2021,” notes Fast Company.
This isn’t the only taste
tester job up for grabs.
“Last week, Wendy’s announced they were seeking a Chief Tasting Officer with a compensation package including your own email
address, no mandatory AI training, and plenty of free Wendy’s–oh, and $100,000,” according to Sporked. “Take notes, Pizza Hut; math-based puns are fun, but rent is crazy
these days.”
