Patron Teams With Guillermo Del Toro To Showcase 'The Perfect Pour'

A new global campaign from Patron uses a legendary director to help illustrate the tequila’s maker’s commitment to “extraordinary precision and care.”

The Academy Award-winning Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, known most recently for the Oscar-nominated “Frankenstein,” has directed Patron’s latest short film, “The Perfect Pour.”

Seen here, the short opens on a tight shot of what appears to be the effortless act of pouring a glass of Patron tequila.  The camera pulls back to reveal what’s behind the “simple” shoot: a whimsically creepy skeleton crew working behind the scenes along with del Toro to make sure they get the perfect shot.

“The creative vision was to tell the Patron story in a way that felt cinematic and intentional, drawing parallels to the uncompromising spirit and greatness of Guillermo del Toro,” said Laila Mignoni, vice president, global communications at Patron Tequila, in a release. “Guillermo brought that vision to life … using rich Mexican imagery and motion capture performers to create skeletons to bring his world to life that feels handcrafted yet technically masterful. What appears to be a simple pour becomes an incredibly detailed, rich world that is crafted with extraordinary precision and care just like our process at Patron.”
